X-ray sorting systems (XSS) have revolutionised the sorting of mixed materials. Detect light metals from heavy metals, ore-bearing mineral blocks from rock, aluminium castings from wrought alloys, PVC from plastics and scrap wood from stone. X-ray transmission technology can penetrate materials to identify different material densities, such as organic components and those containing halogens. These advanced sorting systems can even detect composite materials and internal adhesions. Innovative X-ray fluorescence analysis can differentiate alloys, metals, and ores based on their surfaces. Well-established and extensively tested x-ray detectors that combine multiple components in single equipment.
Particle separation is achieved by x-ray sorting systems through the use of a highly efficient process. A long, high-speed conveyor belt ensures the reliable separation of particles. As the particles pass the x-ray source and camera, they are identified and classified based on pre-programmed settings in the flexible software. The selected particles are then efficiently discharged using reliable, fast-acting compressed air valves. The system’s blow-out unit typically has a resolution of 12.5mm, but the sensitivity of the X-ray recognition can be adjusted to detect particles as small as a few square millimetres.
